Code Orange
Code Orange
Formed in 2008, Pittsburgh's Code Orange does things their own way. Unconcerned with the direction of other artists, their brand of aggressive hardcore/punk merges hardcore power, intense dirge, and cryptic melody into their own uniquely-inspired sound. The band released a series of EP's and demos that lead to 2012's groundbreaking LP, Love Is Love/Return To Dust (Deathwish Inc.) and toured the globe relentlessly over the course of two years in support of it. In September of 2014, Code Orange released their landmark second LP, I Am King, to great critical acclaim; Alternative Press hailed it as "… riveting… at times overwhelming in the best possible way". The album shifts from "heavy" to "hard to define" through the use of unorthodox guitar work and percussion and chaotic song structuring. I Am King shows Code Orange re-imagining what aggressive music can be, elevating and expanding what can be done within the confines of the genre without leaving it behind.
Youth Code
Youth Code
YOUTH CODE are the latest addition to the Downwards Records family (home of PTP faves, Tropic Of Cancer, DVA Damas and Silent Servant aka Juan Mendez). Like Silent Servant, Youth Code are crossing wires between industrial and EBM, minimal synth and minimal techno. So heads up, fans of Throbbing Gristle, Severed Heads, Skinny Puppy, Front 242 and //Tense//, to say the very least.
Disgrace
Disgrace began in early 2011 in the minds of guitarist Kyle Thomas and drummer Mike Cesario. They grouped together to write something out of the norm from what was happening in aggressive music in Southern California. What came forth was a devastating combination; technicality versed with sheer heaviness. Seeking to round out the line up and make it a real band, they sought the vocal ability of Taylor Young, believing he'd be the right asset to the band. Finally they rounded out the line up with Leo Orozco on bass, whose guitar ability mirrors Thomas' in skill. Since then Disgrace has released two records through the Closed Casket Activities label, who expressed interest before Disgrace's first ever live performance. The band is ready to take their blend of aural assault on the road.
