As DJ Awards’ 2016 Electronic Live Performer, Matador is a revolutionary live artist with a shining reputation for versatility, whilst never compromising on quality. Accolades have been showered on the Dublin-born producer, from proud ambassador of the NEVE 5088 Console, and Richie Hawtin’s PLAYDifferently MODEL1 mixer, his tenure as an ENTER resident at their worldwide events, to his consistent spot in RA’s Live Artist poll, bringing him rapid worldwide acclaim and a devoted worldwide fan base of clubbers and peers alike. Still thirsty for new worlds to conquer, Matador, aka Gavin Lynch, recently took on a new role as label boss for his RUKUS imprint.

Matador’s breath-taking explosive live shows result in packed crowds and an equally packed touring schedule including key bookings at top clubs and festivals such as Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Sonus Croatia, Ultra, and Output, DC-10, Space Ibiza, Stereo Montreal.

Playing to ecstatic thousands at sold out shows worldwide is a far cry from his early years. Raised on Motown, Matador then grew up with Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd, Orbital, Kasabian… As a teenager inspired by electronic giants Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Jeff Mills, he listened faithfully to the Essential Mix, collecting records and learning to DJ on any pieces of equipment he could afford. His drive to learn more led him to a sound engineering course at Dublin’s Sound Training Centre, with an emphasis on electronic music production, and an obsession was born. ‘Whilst electronic production is my first love, it has been incredibly important to have knowledge of instruments in their purest form both in a studio and in a live environment.’

Along with early interest from Cocoon and Perc Trax, an encounter with Richie Hawtin boosted him from aspiring DJ on the Dublin underground club circuit to a key component of Hawtin’s Minus imprint. His success was assured by his string of successful releases there such as ‘Kingswing’ and his ‘Spooks’ EP, and by his innovative, ever-evolving live shows. His relationship with Hawtin continues to be a fruitful one, having been enlisted as an ambassador for his PLAYDifferently Model 1 analog DJ mixer in 2016.

Last year also saw Matador founding his RUKUS label. ‘I’ve always loved the idea of taking my tracks from conception in the studio all the way through to release,’ he says. Initially creating an outlet for his own music, this year he invites exciting new and established talent to the imprint, as he extends his range as label boss. In 2016 he unveiled his newest live show at Loveland (ADE 2016), and he promises to add more new elements into an already complex and acclaimed performance in 2017.

Unusually multi-talented outside music, Matador’s many interests and skills have fed back into his DJ career. His early twenties were spent training as a chef to the point of a promising career in Dublin’s Michelin starred restaurants. Following his Dad’s advice of ‘find something you love doing and you’ll never work a day in your life’, he split his time between the kitchen and the decks, before cooking became a much loved hobby and music his life’s work.
M.A.N.D.Y. (Patrick Bodmer)
M.A.N.D.Y. (Patrick Bodmer)
One electronic duo, two different characters; Phillip Jung and Patrick Bodmer are DJs, remixers, producers, and label-operators with world-wide expertise. Traveling together and solo for years, they belong to only a few musicians from Germany, renowned around the globe. They are pop-stars in their own right, moving beyond the traditional pop-star circus.

Jung and Bodmer know each other since their boyhood in Saarbrücken. After their studies and different jobs at record-labels in different places, their shared musical vision reunites them, despite separate intervals in their walks of life. Around the year 2000, they become resident DJs in the booming Frankfurter club scene. Out of their undertakings at the Monza Club, the collaborative project M.A.N.D.Y takes root. They keep the acronym’s meaning a mystery. Does it simply stand for you AND me? Or, is it a courteous bow to Barry Manilow’s super hit “Mandy”?

The next step, they found the independent label Get Physical, on one hand, referring to Oliver Newton John’s aerobic song and on the other hand, to their understanding of the carnal-sensual sides to electronica. A collective of musicians and producers which they run together with Thomas Kock alias DJ T as well as Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier (Booka Shade) with great international success. 2002 Get Physical moves to Berlin.

Since their track “Put, Put, Put”, M.A.N.D.Y has released dozens of remixes and a few songs. “Body Language” counts to their greatest successes which was voted in 2005 as the “Ibiza Track of The Season” and is represented on over 100 compilations world-wide. These included mix-CDs for At The Controls (2006), THE London club label Fabric (2008), and Renaissance Recordings (2009). To their most important (pop)-remixes count works for Roxy Music, Royskopp, and The Knife in 2007, Laurie Anderson’s “Oh Superman” (2008), or also Rockers HiFi (2009), Underworld, and Black Coffee in the year 2016. Their musical focus resides in house music but numerous musical excursions from dark house to minimal to electro show M.A.N.D.Y’s stylistic bandwidth.

Their world-wide DJ-performances take them in 2016 from South-East Asia to Australia to Peru and Argentina. Here, a lively club scene emerged in the last few years. In November 2016, after intensive preparation, they release their first album Double Fantasy, produced in Lopazz’s (Stefan Eichinger) studio in Heidelberg. Guest-musicians like Bam from the New York hip hop crew Jungle Brothers, the South-African vocalist Nonku Phiri, or the classically trained pianist Francesco Tristano from Luxemburg stand once more for M.A.N.D.Y’s consistent international perspective.
I want to merge the worlds of cinematic sound design and forward-thinking techno to create something that is utterly awe-inspiring.

I want to brush upon the borders of the divine and glean just enough to show you we’re not alone.

I want to put forth a vision greater than myself, so that, ultimately, I may inspire you to be all that you can be.

This is Rinzen.
My 11+ year experience as a serial promoter, festival owner, and DJ in the electronic music industry unintentionally helped me develop ninja skills in social media and creative marketing. Since 2006, I have helped dozens of artists & artist managers, events/festivals, music labels, industry PR agencies, and pro-audio companies reach their desire target demographic and ultimately "get their word out" through digital marketing and social media. I love the journey I'm in and welcome anyone to join me on the quest to push the electronic music industry to its full potential. Please let me know how my team at 6AM can serve you and your brand.

Oh snap, I almost forgot to mention that I was once an aspiring DJ/Producer (ha producer, ME!?) but gave that side up as I felt my time would be better spent coaching and mentoring DJ/Producers instead of being one. I am blessed to have shared the decks with so many amazing talent and humbled by this entire experience. Some of the artists I have supported over the years are listed below, not bad right? I still enjoy DJ'ing but choose to take gigs that make the most sense for my current lifestyle as a husband to the most amazing woman I know and father to a sassy lil chihuahua named Boba. Boba hates it when I stay out late so I always prefer the opening slot plus I sincerely love setting up the next person coming up. Nothing brings me more pleasure than to get complimented by the next DJ after me #goodsetbro
